Colour configurator
Body, guitar plates and pickguard each print in one colour, so there are no colour changes mid-print. Choose a preset or build your own.
Want to go wild? Every body piece and every guitar plate prints on its own, so you can give each one a different colour. Mix four body colours and three plate colours for a patchwork Filamentcaster that nobody else has.

Plate designs
Each design is a set of three magnetic guitar plates, sized for the Filamentcaster recess with the magnet pockets in place. Single-colour sets are £3.50; two-tone sets, with raised tops in a second colour, are £4.50. Print a new set, push the old guitar plates off from the back, and clip the new ones on.

Design
Three textured guitar plates sit in an 8 mm recess on 28 hidden 10 × 3 mm magnets. Push them off from the back through six small holes, then clip on a new design.
Neck pocket, bolt pattern, pickup routes, control slot, bridge holes and jack are placed for the Harley Benton T-style kit. Your neck, bridge and electronics drop straight in.
Two 8 mm carbon rods run from under the neck pocket past the bridge, carrying string tension so the body stays straight for years.
Every part prints flat with no supports. Bow-tie keys with M4 heat-set inserts and dowel pins join the four body pieces from the back, out of sight, so the body needs no glue. The only glue is a drop of superglue to fix each magnet in its pocket.

Print plan · Bambu Lab X1C

Sliced in Bambu Studio for a Bambu Lab X1C with PLA, the whole guitar takes about 50 hours of printing and 2 kg of filament.

Which printers fit?
The largest body piece is 246 × 240 mm, so any printer with a bed of at least 256 × 256 mm will print every part. The Bambu Studio project is set up for the X1C and works on any Bambu printer with a full-size bed. The STLs work in any slicer.
Other brands: if the bed is at least 256 × 256 mm, it fits. Print the free test-fit pack first to check your printer's accuracy.

Before you buy anything, print these small pieces. They're cut straight from the real body files, so if they fit your kit and your printer, the whole guitar will too.

Questions
Any printer with a 256 × 256 mm bed or larger, including the Bambu Lab X1, P1 and A1 (not the A1 mini), and larger machines such as the Creality K1 Max or Prusa XL. Prusa MK4 and Core One beds (250 mm wide) are just too small, so check your bed size. The largest body piece is 246 × 240 mm. See Which printers fit?
The body is designed around the Harley Benton T-style kit. Kits are sometimes revised, so print the free test-fit pack first and check your neck and bridge before committing to the big parts.
Yes, for a guitar kept indoors. The carbon rods carry the string load. PLA softens around 55 °C, so keep it out of hot cars, or print the two treble-side pieces in PETG or ASA.
About 3.2–3.4 kg built, which is right in the range of a typical T-style guitar.
Yes. The body is full size, made for the Harley Benton T-style kit's standard 25.5" scale neck, so it plays and sits like any regular T-style guitar.
Yes. A solid-body electric's sound comes mostly from its pickups, strings and setup, and the Filamentcaster uses the kit's standard pickups and hardware. The carbon rods keep the body stiff between the bridge and neck. Hear it for yourself in the video at the top of the page.
The files are designed and tested for the Harley Benton T-style kit. Other T-style (Telecaster-pattern) necks and hardware often fit, but neck heels, bolt spacing and bridge plates vary between brands. Print the matching pieces from the free test-fit pack to check before printing the body.
Yes. The Bambu Studio project switches to filament 2 partway up, so only the raised tops print in the second colour. Without an AMS, open the Preview, delete the filament change on the layer slider, right-click the same layer and choose "Add pause". When the printer pauses, swap to your second colour and resume. Each set's README gives the exact layer height.
Yes, and it's a good choice if the guitar might get warm, as PETG softens at a higher temperature. Pick your PETG profile in Bambu Studio and keep the walls and infill from the project. PETG can shrink a little differently, so print the free test-fit pack in the same PETG first and check the neck pocket and joint keys before the body.
Print the neck pocket from the free test-fit pack first, so you find out in a couple of hours, not after the whole body. If it's slightly tight, lightly sand or scrape the pocket walls until the heel drops in. If it's loose, a strip of thin veneer or tape on one wall takes up the gap. If it's well out, send us a message with a photo and your neck heel measurements and we'll help.
